Livelihood of Rural Poor
Yuva Rural Association believes in improving the standard of living of the rural poor and they are the most important constituency group of the organization. Projects and activities are carried out by the organization in order to alleviate poverty by generation livelihoods and employment opportunities for the rural poor.
Reclaiming Livelihoods and Food Security (RLFS)
This project was aimed at enhancing livelihood in rural areas, promoting sustainability of natural resources and facilitating the processes of community empowerment and democratic governance and was implemented in Nandura block of Buldana district covering 12 villages of 5 Gram Panchayats. The objectives of the project were the capacity building of women entrepreneur groups, strengthening producer’s cooperative societies, facilitating villagers in reducing drudgery in villages, enhancing competencies of the villagers and promoting alliances and advocacy in addressing livelihoods issues.
Under this project, our organization attained a number of achievements. 19 Producer groups were forms with the participation of 228 women. Capacity building activities were undertaken on management aspects, microfinance linkages, effective income generating activities, market needs, produce processing and marketing. 55 farmers started undertaking organic farming. 4 cooperatives were formed with 204 women and 24 SHGs were formed with 260 members. Successful convergence and credit linkages with credit institutions, local markets, and government schemes were done and 17 SHGs and 366 families benefited through the interventions. Under agro-allied activities, 10 bio-fertilizer units and 8 income generating units such as dairy unit, milk processing units, goat farming, khichadi making unit, cooperative farming etc. Awareness was also generated on soil and water conservation, solving community issues etc.
