About Yuva Rural Association

Yuva Rural Association (YRA) is registered organization under M.P. Society Registration Act 1973 from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. YRA has turned 16 years old now and continues to work hard for the development of the rural & tribal poor. The focus is to empower the deprived sections of rural and tribal society through interventions in the areas of livelihoods, gender, natural resource management (Environment) and advocacy to achieve its goals for the betterment of the constituencies. YRA’s current direct interventions are in more than 525 villages from around 18 blocks of 8 districts in Vidarbha region and Parbhani district from Marathwada region of Maharashtra. All these interventions were to address various development issues of the constituency groups- small and marginal farmers, women, youth, tribal and children.
YRA also have indirect interventions on various issues at state and national level through our collaborative partners. YRA has been successful in facilitating people’s Organizations and Institutions, thus increasing the participation, accountability, transparency, and ownership of our constituencies so that the social transformation process rolls on its own on sustainable mode. YRA has successfully implemented model of diversion based irrigation. Convergence of Government schemes for the livelihood of poor householdsis also implemented successfully under CAIM project in two clusters viz. Devli (Wardha district) and Barshi Takali (Akola district). YRA is part of many national level campaigns such as Wada Na Todo Abhiyan, VANI, ASHA, RRAN and also some state level networks. YRA is professional voluntary development organization working in partnership with International Development Organizations, National and State Government and Corporate Social Responsibility projects with HDFC Bank, EdelGive Foundation and HDB Financial Services towards Sustainable Development. YRA is actively involved in national and international development processes such as Millennium Development Goals and now Sustainable Development Goals etc.

Our Initiatives

Our initiatives are aimed at building the livelihood opportunities to empowered rural households in Maharashtra with particular reference to Vidarbha region. YRA believes that Livelihood as a catalyst constructs a diverse portfolio of activities and social support capabilities in order to improve the standards of living and improve livelihood security.

  • Dr. Mrunalini Fadnavis

    President, Yuva Rural Association

    Dr. Fadnavis has Ph.D. in Economics and has been associated with Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur since 1984.  She is renowned economist and associated with National & International forums and organizations. Earlier she was serving  Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur as Principal and HoD of Economics. Dr. Mrunalini Milind is now appointed as new vice-chancellor of Solapur university.
  • Dattatray S Patil

    Director General, Yuva Rural Association

    Mr. Datta Patil is a sociologist, known nationally in the voluntary sector for his 37 years of experience in the social transformation process. He began his career from grass-root level later working with State Government and Corporate finally realising his potential and his passion for the development of the community left the job and joined voluntary development sector. Today he is heading a couple of organizations one of them is his initiation, Yuva Rural Association. Mr Patil is closely associated with various State and National Forums.
  • Ms. Jyoti Nagarkar

    Chief of Operations, Yuva Rural Association

    Ms. Jyoti Nagarkar has done Master in Philosophy (M. Phil) from Nagpur University with specialization in Labour Welfare and Personnel Management. She has the working experience of more than 20 years. Involved with various issues related to the Women’s movement and development particularly with issues related to harassment of women, sexuality, health and reproductive rights, Women’s socio-economic and political empowerment. She is Actively associated with Vidarbha Lady Lawyers Association, District Bar Association, District Legal Advisory Board, Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (MAVIM), Mahila Ayog and been an active member of Police Coordination Committee, Suraksha and Dakshata Committees, and Women Empowerment Committees at Nagpur level.
